New Thread Forward Pattern – Liassic

I am pleased to announce the release of my new pattern, Liassic! Liassic is a beanie style hat knit from the bottom up using worsted weight yarn using the stitch pattern in A Knitted Silk Cuff. Top it off with a pompom in a contrasting colour for a fun and modern look. The pattern includes sizes ranging from Toddler to XL adult.

This hat was named for the geological formation, the Lias, where ammonite, plesiosaur, and ichthyosaur fossils were discovered by Mary Anning in the early 1800s along the Jurassic Coast of the UK.  Whether you are hunting for fossils on a cold and blustery day by the sea or walking the dog, this hat will provide warmth and protection from the elements.

I was inspired to design this baby tunic by the stitch pattern for A Knitted Silk Cuff that can be found in Miss Lambert’s My Knitting Book (First Series, 1843) and the singlets of the 1930s era.  The tunic is available in sizes  3, 6, 12 and 18 months and is suitable as a summer top or a second layer in winter.

The pattern has been reviewed and tech edited by the wonderful Polly at Butterscotch Press.   Tunic For Violet  is available on Ravelry for 50% off until midnight on Wednesday, September 16 (Eastern Standard Time) after which it will be $4. 00. There is no coupon code and the discount will be applied automatically during checkout.

Timan Ridge Cowl – A New Design by Thread Forward

I am very happy to announce the release of the pattern for the Timan Ridge Cowl!

Timan Ridge Pic

The cowl was inspired by the patterns for Siberian Cuffs that can be found in Miss Lambert’s My Knitting Book (First Series, 1843) as well as several other knitting manuals that were published in the early to mid Victorian era.  I hope you try the pattern and enjoy bringing a 172-year-old concept forward to the present and breathing new life into an old knitting concept.

The pattern has been reviewed and tech edited by the wonderful Polly at Butterscotch Press.  Timan Ridge available on Ravelry for a discounted price of $1.00 until midnight on Sunday, August 16 (Eastern Standard Time) after which it will be $4. 00. There is no coupon code and the discount will be applied automatically during checkout.

The pattern is also available on Craftsy and Love Knitting.
